The types of problems in it were similar to the test so it did a good job preparing me.I was not pleased to learn that the errata is no longer provided online, especially since I found a number of errors in the solutions that made me stumble while going through it.

I really enjoyed this work. The author promises in the preface to provide surprising, not especially well know ideas which highlight the idea of proof and have practical applications but require only a high school math background. A tall order, but mostly accomplished. 23 ideas from number theory, geometry, and probability defined with illuminating examples and some gestures towards how a proof would go. (Not that many applications are discussed.) This is a great way to get interested in the topics covered. It is the kind of book I wish I had in late high school or early college when I was introduced to calculus and linear algebra in a very abstract way.

A good review of some of mathematics most intriguing discoveries, easy to read for a technical person. I would not recommend it for someone with no math or science background.

Our mathematics instructor is loving this book, and says it will give him new and exciting things to speak of during lectures.

As a math enthusiast, it’s difficult for me to resist buying new math books, especially popular ones that are highly rated. But I do have my preferences regarding math topics, and number theory is definitely not one of them. This book does contain a number of chapters on number theory subjects. However, I found the presentations to be so well done that I enjoyed them as much as the other topics discussed in the book.The book contains 23 chapters, each on a different mathematical subject – some practical, others less so. The writing style is clear, lively, friendly, authoritative, highly accessible and particularly captivating – overall, for me, a page turner! Sure, as a math buff, I did find several explanations/derivations extremely elementary (and unnecessary), but I’m sure that they could be useful to those who are new to the field, thus broadening the book’s readership. And these did not take anything away from my reading enjoyment. In addition, I did learn several rather interesting tidbits. Because of its diversity of topics, I believe that there should be several items in here to please just about everyone. The book’s title and subtitle have, in my opinion, been well chosen.I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful book, and I recommend it to seasoned math enthusiasts (even if only as an entertaining review of familiar topics) as well as those who want to learn math in a most painless and enjoyable way.

We got hooked on Maui stories thanks to a certain Disney film last year. This is one of my two year old son's favorite books to read together. He asks for "Maui hook book"! It's really wonderful to be able to supplement pop culture interpretation of folktales with traditional versions that are age appropriate for my youngest listeners. Ahuli'i does a great job of making the language rhythmic, including some larger vocabulary words but never letting the ideas be too complex for little ones. Tsong's illustrations are fantastic, with great color contrast and wonderful texture.

I have many books, tapes, computer programs and charts to help me learn Japanese. Nothing has been as fun and useful as this CD. Great concept, great execution.

`Earworms Rapid Japanese' is a new way of learning a language based on linking words and phrases to music. The album has a variety of tracks that take you through various situations and gives you the words you may need. These words are almost sung along with catchy tunes in the background, I say almost as they are spoken but in time with the music to assist your memory. On this disc a man speaks the English and a native Japanese lady speaks the Japanese. Both speak very clearly and are in no way cheesy or patronising. What is also good is that at times the man may ask questions to clarify a point or pronunciation and they lady will respond. The topics covered in Volume 1 (meant to cover brief visits, whereas Volume 2 covers more in-depth knowledge) are `I would like...', `To Order', Have You Got...?', To The Airport', Numbers, days and time', `Is There?', `Directions', `Where, how many and what time?', `Problems' and `Do You Understand English?'. Basically what you'd need on your first holiday to Japan. The music is OK to listen to and not excessively cheesy or boring. It gets a bit repetitive at times, but this is kind of the point as it's meant to be almost like a jingle that hooks the phrases in your brain. There are various music styles with folky guitar, Celtic styles, drum (almost dance) style and more. There is also a complimentary website that adds ideas to help with learning and retention. There is information in the booklet on how the idea of earworms works, as well as the phrases used so you can read along if you wish. I found this system of language learning easy to use and I retained a great deal of the words used. You do need to repeat the listening, but with the music this isn't too arduous and you can easily have this on in the background and still pick bits up. This is the only product that I have used that will have you ordering food and getting directions in Japanese in under a week. The insistent repetition method really works. I found myself spontaneously remembering phrases that I had tried to learn in the past. Earworms is is bar none the best option for the unserious student of Japanese, and should be considered by anyone who is trying to learn this language.

The phrases taught here seem like they would be great if you are planning at trip to Japan. However, I was so distracted by the weird background music and crazy echo interludes "sumimasen-sumimasen-sumimasen-sumimasen!" that I didn't retain much. Also, the words aren't really set to the jazzy music so much as spoken over it. It's definitely not something I would listen to for fun.

I was so excited for this series, because the Earworms website promises, "brain optimized, accelerated learning." I was really hoping for something revolutionary, like the Head First series of books. But, unfortunately, this is just a very mediocre introduction to Japanese. I was so disappointed.I bought the Rapanese cassette tapes over ten years ago, and they were goofy, but they taught me a little Japanese. I bought this CD excited to see what leaps Japanese instruction had made in the last decade. Sadly, that dated, wacky audio cassette was much more advanced than this CD.The 'music' is super cheap stock music, or elevator music. The voice actors talk in a little bit of sing-songy voices, but definitely not on beat with the music (the music was mixed in afterwards). You'll probably pick up more Japanese by reading the Wikipedia article on Learning Japanese, than you'll get by listening to this CD.The voice actors are by far the best part of this. With every other part of this, you'll wish you bought some other method of learning Japanese.Pros:+I liked both of the voice actors on this CD. The male actor has a nice British accent, and the female actor has a nice Japanese accent.Cons:-If you're looking for something that's revolutionary in any way, you'll be super disappointed-Super annoying music-Super annoying sound effects-Really bad sound mixing. The background music is too loud-The dialog is a rehash of every other beginning Japanese course ever written

I just received my book in the mail today (first one from this author). I was a little disappointed to see that there are no photographs for any of the recipes (not even in black and white). There are black and white illustrations, but most of them look like random clip art that are not related to the recipes. Luckily, the recipes aren't complicated. They look easy to make and don't use too many ingredients. The instructions are short and easy to understand, so that helps to get a quick idea of what it "may" look like. But it sure would have been nice to see a photograph or a detailed illustration of what the dish is suppose to look like in the end.

However, when I was growing up, if there was one athlete my friends and I looked up to with complete and utter awe, it was Michael Jordan. He represented what could be accomplished when you fully immersed yourself into becoming the best that you could be. Having said this, reading ‘Michael Jordan: The Inspiring Story of One of Basketball's Greatest Players’ gave me a much deeper insight than I had ever known about the man who inspired us to follow aspirations. An avid reader, I love books, but usually tend to stay far away from biographies because they often come off stuffy and read like a list of facts with no genuine flow. Geoffrey’s unauthorized biography of Michael Jordan, however, is written in a way that makes you want to (digitally) turn the next page, just to find out more about a man who was and continues to be one of the most amazing athletes to enter the arena of sports. You feel like you are sitting with a friend who sat on the sidelines catching all of Michael’s moments, great or small, listening to him as he recounts every one of them hooking you in every step of the way. Definitely a great book to check out if you want to know more about the man who made the #23 the thing of legends.

This book is a great option to give to your kids especially if they’re basketball fanatics. It details how Michael Jordan started his basketball career and became the legacy and an icon that he is now. The author did a great job in researching and collecting facts that you can’t even find in a single book. If you're a fan of Michael Jordan or just basketball this book is a must read. I'm 20 pages into this book, and I've seen over a dozen grammatical errors thus far. Some are as simple as typing the wrong letter. Last book by this author that I will purchase.

It's a book, so it's a subjective topic. Got it for my son, he liked it. I thought it was somewhat superficial in it's depth/coverage

The greatest basketball player of all time, businessman, and the star of beloved movie Space Jam, Michael Jordan is a figure that many still care about. This unauthorized bio was great in that the author was able to write it without sounding like a generic article. It provided insights into Jordan’s career including recounts of his greatest moments. I would highly recommend this book if you’re a fan of the original #23.

The book is a list of Jordan's game statistics. It tells nothing about the individual. It should not be classified as a biography.
