This book was not an easy read for me, but essential. I feel that this book is essential not just for people who are trustees of a special needs trust (SNT), but also for people who are are thinking of setting one up. I bought this book after reading Nolo's "Special Needs Trusts" and to me, it is a necessary companion for those who are setting up an SNT. This book helped me greater understand what could and should be done based on the context of what was in the SNT documents. It also explained the consequences, both good and bad, of many actions taken by the trustee. This book makes one aware of how to properly enhance the care of the person with special needs and not jeopardize their government assistance. So many things I would never have thought of on my own. A great investment.
The book is helpful but too indepth, Trying to find an answer is sometimes difficult as it is very wordy and not written in plain terms. The last section is the best where it gives you a summary of what is permissable.
what's needed to adminstrate a Special Needs trust and whether a California trust or not. The 'California' part about it is essentially extra material that pertains to California taxation and regulations.
Seems very detailed. Much better than Nolo's book. Good for California. Discusses things you'd never think of.
