The book comprises summarized facts and specific knowledge regarding minitature horses on anatomy, physiology, patophysiology, diagnosis, symptoms and treatment. This is a valuable textbook for veterinarians experienced in working with (normal sized) horses and now treating miniature horses also. As a recent owner of a miniature filly with some walking disabilities I was looking for a no-nonsense source of this type of information and knowledge. I would also appreciate a special addition to this book by this author on communication and socialisation of your "horsey", and also on advice on keeping these delightful creatures. I would definitely recommend this book as a source of valuable and expert information on miniature horses.
I did like the book. It was titled A Veterinary Guide for Owners but I found some of the terminology was hard to understand.
I should have paid attention to the title, "A Veterinary Guide". It is more than I wanted to know medically. I'll leave that to my vet.
This is a great book to add to your horsey library if you have minis. It easy to understand because it was writing using layman's terms. It cover medical issues that as a miniature horse own would need to be aware of how to deal with and prevent when possible. This is a great book for newbies such as myself.It not a book on general care.
Great book for us, as we are first time miniature owners. There are not a lot of choices for miniature books, and some were written in the 1970s. This is nicely colored and has relevant info, but there is still a great need for an updated manual that is more "fun" to read.
