I read through all the first 3 of these, the gist is that this guy starts off by saying "I've discovered something important! Stay with me on this!", and then goes through 40 or 50 pages of mental gymnastics, some of which connect and are believable, some of which are reeeeaaally stretching for a connection and don't quite make it. Then he says "oops, out of time in this volume, make sure to buy the next one to see what's next!" Then repeat on the next volume.I stayed with it through a lot of the stretches, cuz I wanted to see what they were building up to, what they were meant to support, and I wanted to see if they did actually support it, or not.Doesn't seem like he's actually going anywhere with it. He's actually said a few times "stay with me, not sure where I'm going with this." The vibe I get is that he's just sort of improvising, playing around with vaguely new-age topics, hoping we like the improv enough to keep buying for a couple more volumes before we get bored.Which, more power to him, I guess. A lot of new age writing is really vague and shifty and not actually saying much; if this guy can play on that and make a couple grand on Gnostic jazz before we figure out he doesn't have a finale, then good for him. I won't be buying any more of these though. Most of his arguments don't actually connect, and aren't actually able to support anything, so I'm out.

Wow! This was both different and incredible at the same time! I have read a few books about Gnostic research before and I thought this served its purpose. It’s a dry subject and these books aren’t an easy read, this particular book is no exception. But for enthusiasts this book is all you need for study into Gnostic scriptures. I could feel the amount of research and time gone into its preparation while reading it. It was a remarkable experience. Do jot down notes and underline lines that you find interesting, you will want to come back to it later. I would say the entire book while not being a light read is actually pretty contemplative.

Thank you for this critical thinking exercise, I have long suspected the hidden meanings in the Bible, as I have read many books on the subjects of astro-theology, mythology, astrology (archeoastronomy), al-chemy, etymology, ancient culture, freemasons, early christianity, Constantine, Sir Bacon, King James,.....But I like your competitive research style.

After reading Vol. 1 of Timothy James Lambert's 'The Gnostic Notebook' it was great to pick up this volume. Like the first, Lambert's easy style of writing draws the reader in as he explores the mysteries of the parables in the Bible. At times, reaching dead-ends in his journey, Lambert follows the disciple Thomas where he quotes Jesus telling disciples to follow James after his death. This leads Lambert to the Gospel of James. Using both the Gospels of James and Thomas, Lambert finds keys to decrypt the texts he is analysing.Towards the end Lambert introduces an 'alternative numerology' that he promises will help in further understanding, as he proceeds with his volumes. If there is one note of criticism, in this book there are more occasions where Lambert seems to leave the reader hanging in the air without a definitive conclusion. He seems to be setting us up for an overarching idea/message that he has . . . . . which might be introduced later. As this approach is repeated a few times, it seems tiring for an amateur with budding interest though it could be more fascinating to a more dedicated explorer of Biblical literature. All in all, Lambert has a compelling narrative style and a clear idea where he wants to take us. I look forward to his next volume :-)

I only had a good guess work getting into this book. But once I began I truly found it mesmerizing and it revealed a lot. There are a lot of passages from the bible and this made me look at them differently. Especially the teachings of Jesus, even though this isn’t the book’s primary purpose. The author has researched for this book and he is very self aware and says wherever possible that a lot of this is conjecture and assumption. I thought this was a very lucid take on it. This piqued my interest and awoke me to the reality of hidden meanings in messages. A vast majority of books, especially religious books suffer from misinterpretations and mistranslations, so this was an insight into that. That some of these “mistakes” may have been put there on purpose.

Kindle Unlimited, but was sent free copies of the trilogy {wonder if the number of books had a meaning, just saying}. one of those we send you free books and hope you like them and/or actually review them, though of course they don't put as you have to review, but it's all I do most days. The Bible{s}, fairy tales and fables, geometric figures, I Ching, astrology, coded and encoded and encrypted and hidden meanings, yes it all rather made me think of masonic myth and movies such as National Treasure but then again my mind works in much stranger ways than most people's do.The books were fine, and pretty much made sense to me, because I read a lot, and a lot of different things, but...there didn't seem to be a...reason for them, as in what was the point, what was it all trying to show in the context/theme running through the 3 books, what conclusion overall or separately were we supposed to have gotten and why 3 books of somewhat different but linked stories. Interesting stories, but again not quite sure what the point{s} were, beyond finding similarities and themes running through certain things. Maybe I was still missing something or some things, but pretty sure wasn't.The Gnostic Notebook: Volume One: On Memory Systems and Fairy TalesThe Gnostic Notebook: Volume Two: On the Secrets of James and ThomasThe Gnostic Notebook: Volume Three: On Plato, the Fourth Dimension, and the Lost Philosophy
